We all share an interest in Northumbrian and Borders traditional music and enjoy playing together, so it was natural for us to set up ‘Simply Northumbrian’ about four years ago. We’re all very pleased we took that step because since then we have enjoyed some smashing times and met some really nice folk. Its great to receive a telephone call, or a letter of thanks, and even better when we get asked back! |

‘Simply Northumbrian’ plays for wedding celidhs, birthday and retirement parties, anniversaries, burns nights, country shows, socials of all kinds including community groups, school parent associations, church groups and so on. You will find us throughout Northumberland, the Borders and Tyneside playing in village halls, social clubs, hotels, wedding marquees and at venues as diverse as Newcastle Civic Centre’s Banqueting Suite, Chillingham Castle, Matfen Hall Hotel, Felton Village Hall and the Dyke Neuk Showground at Meldon. |

Simply Northumbrian Kirsteen is our lead fiddle player who can also double-up on keyboard, or double bass. She has played in the Cheviot Ranters and the Glen Aln bands. Roy is our ‘moothy’ player, and can also play guitar and Northumbrian pipes. Roy composes many of our dance and performance tunes. Wendy also plays fiddle at the heart of the band and keyboard if needed. She has a great feel for the tradition. Stephen is our keyboard player and a technically fine musician who also plays Northumbrian pipes, traditional flute and whistle. Finally we have Helena who is our caller to get you dancing. She is also our arranger, who makes sure your event is going to be a success. |
